Teaching procedures:
1. Warming up (10 minutes)
Ss will be asked to listen to a broadcaster introduce the program “A Hunk of Burning Love” and answer three questions followed based upon the information they hear.
2. Listening (60 minutes)
Listening skills:
1). Ask Ss to read through the four options listed on their books
2). Ask Ss to find out the differences and similarities among the four options and guess the question according to the four options.
3). Ask Ss to listen to the dialogs and complete the tasks of each section
Task 1: Understanding Short Conversations (20 minutes)
Task 2: Understanding a Long Conversation (10 minutes)
Task 3: Understanding a Passage (15 minutes)
Task 4: Understanding a Movie Speech (15 minutes)
3. Speaking (50 minutes)
Task 1: Practicing Conversational Skills (15 minutes)
1. Introduce useful patterns for talking about how to do something, and asking
for and giving examples.
2. Listen to the model dialogs, imitate and practice the dialogs.
Task 2: Conversation Activity——Hear Me Out! (15 minuts)
1. Work with a partner, practice the instructions on how to do or make something with the appropriate expressions.
2. Have some pairs to give the presentation in class
Task 3: Class Activity——Will You Marry Me? (20 minutes)
1. Ss are asked to write out what they expect from a spouse.
2. Ss will talk to classmates, explaining the expectations and asking them to sign their paper if they agree.
3. Find out who has gotten the most signatures and the reasons for the result.
4. Listening and speaking (25 minutes)
Story-retelling
1. Ss are to hear a story and fill in some blanks.
2. Work in pairs and retell the story .Each student in turn gives two sentences of the story.
5. Summary (5 minutes)
Summarize the main idea of this unit: expressions for talking about how to do something, and asking for and giving examples.
6. Assignments
Supplementary listening and oral report.
