1. capture v.

1. seize; take violently or with force捕获 
In his traveling report, he tried to capture the beauty of the Great Waterfalls. 他努力在他的游记中记录下大瀑布的壮美。
2. seize; occupy夺得; 占领

2. evaluate v.: examine and judge carefully评价, 估计

3. enhance vt.: make greater, as in value, beauty, or standing; to increase 提高, 增强

4. transfer v.: move from one place or job to another调动，迁移
His employer transferred him to another office. 老板把他调到了另一个办公室。

5. convince vt.: bring by the use of arguing or facts to a firm belief or a course of action使确信, 使信服
He convinced me that I should study law. 他劝我应该去学法律。
It took many hours to convince the judge of his guilt.花费了好几个小时法庭才相信他有罪。

6. potential n.: qualities that exist and can be developed 潜力，潜能
He hasn't realized his full potential yet. 他还没有意识到自己的全部潜力。

7. take advantage of: make use of 利用

1. pose vt.: 1. ask 问
He posed a difficult question to me. 他问了我一个很难的问题。

vi.: 2. stand or sit in a particular position to be drawn, photographed, etc. 
摆出姿势（供人画画、拍照等）
She was employed by the art school to pose for student artists. 这所艺术学校雇她给学生作模特。

2. survey 

n.: the act of finding out information about something; study 调查
A survey of public opinion is carried out by a group of experts in political science. 一组政治学方面的专家对舆论进行了调查。
A survey shows that students today have more assignments to do. 调查表明现在学生的作业量增加了。

vt.: look at or consider as a whole 查看；鉴定
The young couple surveyed the new house they wanted to buy. 这对年轻夫妇察看了他们想买的那幢新房。
The mayor surveyed the situation before taking action. 市长在采取行动之前对情况作了调查。

3. decrease  n. reducing; becoming less 减少；下降
The survey shows that there is a decrease in the number of young people out of work. 调查表明，年轻人的失业率下降了。

v.: reduce, become less 减少；下降
The population growth in that city is decreasing by 1.5% each year. 那个城市的人口增长率每年下降1.5%。

4. decline v.

1. become worse or less 降低；变得不如以前
The number of students in the class declined from 25 to 20. 班上学生的人数由25个减少到了20个。
Her health has been declining the past few months. 这几个月来她的健康每况愈下。
2. refuse usually politely; being unwilling （婉言）拒绝
I invited him to a party but he declined.我请他参加晚会，但他谢绝了。
I declined to go with them. 我不愿和他们一道去。

n.: process of becoming worse or less 降低
If something is in decline, falling into decline, or on the decline, it is slowly growing smaller, weaker, or worse.如果什么东西在缩减、衰弱或衰退，那它就是在渐渐变小、变弱或变差。
Our business has gone into a decline this year. 今年我们的生意不景气。

5. alter v.: change; make or become different 改变
If it rains we'll have to alter our plans for the holiday. 如果下雨，我们就得改变度假计划。

6. available a.:able to be got, used, etc. 能够得到的
Is there a doctor available? 有医生看病吗？
The hotel has no available rooms. 旅馆没有空房间了。

7.1 involve vt.卷入
How many people are involved in the accident? 一共有多少人卷入了这场事故？
Have you ever been involved in any research project? 你曾经参加过什么研究项目吗？

7.2 involve in: get someone or something into a difficult situation or condition; cause to be mixed up in 卷入
In some way he managed to involve several of his friends in the trouble. 不知怎的，他使得他的几个朋友卷入了那场麻烦。
An accident in which five cars were involved caused the death of six people on the highway last night. 昨天晚上，有五辆车卷入了一场事故，造成了六个人死在高速公路上。

8. accomplish vt.: succeed in doing 完成
United, we can do many things; divided, we accomplish nothing. 团结，则事业成功；分裂，则一事无成。
